An Ayurvedic Approach to Joint Pain

An Ayurvedic Approach to Joint Pain

Welcome to The Herbarium’s intensive, An Ayurvedic Approach to Joint Pain with Ayurvedic Practitioner Greta Kent-Stoll! There are three sessions to this series—three videos each accompanied by three articles.

In the first session, Greta reviews some key ayurvedic basics, including the Five Elements and the three doshas (principles of energy that influence an individual’s constitution). She also discusses the roots and progression (samprapti) of joint pain according to Ayurveda.

In the second session, Greta provides an understanding of pain through the ayurvedic lens, protocols for vata-, pitta-, and kapha-type joint pain, a review of how dosha-type joint pain manifests and presents, herbal support for your dosha type, and topical preparations for joint pain.

In the third and final session, Greta discusses the mind (subtle roots of illness), mind-body balance for the vata, pitta, and kapha nervous systems, provides tips for stoking/balancing agni (digestive fire), and offers other general ayurvedic practices for maintaining healthy joints.

By the end of this intensive, students will gain a better understanding of the roots of joint pain according to Ayurveda and the herbal, nutrition, and mind-body suggestions that can be used to support people with joint pain.
