Herbal Support for Pregnancy Intensive

Welcome to the Herbal Support for Pregnancy Intensive!

In this four-part intensive, clinical herbalists Lisa Olson and Shona Richter MacDougall and herbalist and doula Jovan Sage delve into multiple aspects of support during the pregnancy and birth journey, offering safe and effective herbal approaches and practices for those who are pregnant themselves or for herbalists looking to support pregnant clients.

Session 1 | Nutritive Tonics + Common Conditions

This session delves into how to safely use herbs during pregnancy and discusses some specific nutritive and tonic herbs that can be used regularly, along with recommendations for preparing them. These herbs are beneficial as nutritives or providing support for some common conditions such as stress and anxiety, insomnia, and skin issues.

Session 2 | Common Conditions, Part II

Although pregnancy can be a wonderful season of life, it is not without its discomforts. This session covers some common conditions that may arise and how to use herbs for support. Topics include nausea, morning sickness, heartburn, constipation, yeast infections, and how to safely support the body through colds and flu during pregnancy.

Session 3 | Common Conditions, Part III

Expand your learning into more common conditions during pregnancy, such as iron deficiency anemia, gestational diabetes, hypertension, and the herbal support that may be appropriate, as well as the use of herbs to prepare the uterus for birth.

Session 4 | Preparing for Birth: Physical and Emotional Support

This session shares a variety of ways to prepare for birth, both physically and emotionally, with guidance for selecting your birthing team, bringing your preferences into focus, and considering the elements of comfort and nourishment to have on hand during the birthing process itself.
