Natural Approaches to the Management of PCOS: Finding Balance

Welcome to The Herbarium’s intensive on polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), Natural Approaches to the Management of PCOS: Finding Balance with herbalist Sara Rooney. There are three sessions to this series—two articles and one video.

In the first session, Sara reviews the fundamentals of PCOS in terms of pathophysiology, etiology, clinical manifestations, and the potentially serious long-term health implications. The second article will review herbal protocols to support women with PCOS and how herbs and nutrition can be used to minimize the varied symptoms and support hormonal balance.

In the third and final session, Sara will share a PowerPoint presentation with a series of case studies to highlight the variety of women with PCOS and herbal formulas that can be used to support them. Sara will also illustrate therapeutic aims, clinical pearls, and specific points to consider when supporting women with PCOS.

By the end of this intensive, students will gain a better understanding of polycystic ovarian syndrome and the herbs, nutrition, and supplements that can be incorporated in clinical practice to support those with this condition.
