Dr. Tieraona Low Dog is an internationally recognized authority in integrative medicine, women’s health, dietary supplements, and herbal medicine. Her scholarly work encompasses 54 peer-reviewed scientific publications, 25 chapters in medical textbooks, four books with National Geographic, and Oxford University’s Integrative Women’s Health textbook editor.
Dr. Low Dog’s global influence is highlighted by her participation in over 600 medical and scientific conferences worldwide. Dr. Low Dog’s dedication to public service is exemplified by her appointments to significant positions, including her appointment by President Bill Clinton to the White House Commission for Complementary and Alternative Medicine Policy, seven years in an advisory role for the NIH National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine, and 25 years chairing Dietary Supplement and Botanical Expert panels at United States Pharmacopeia. She received four-lifetime achievement awards, serves on the Board of Trustees of the American Botanical Council, and was named one of the 30 most influential people in the natural products industry by the Vitamin Retailer.
A founding member of the American Board of Integrative Medicine, she now serves as the Founding Director of the Integrative and Functional Medicine Fellowship and Clinical Professor of Health Sciences at the University of California-Irvine Susan Samueli Integrative Health Institute.
