The Five Flavors of Kitchen Herbalism: Chinese Medicine at Home with Jiling Lin, L.Ac.
Are you interested in weaving the wisdom of Chinese medicine into your day to day? In this class, we’ll explore cooking with the five flavors of Chinese medicine, and cultivate a deeper understanding of how the taste and energetics of foods can help us align our wellbeing with the seasons.
Class Description:
In this masterclass, acupuncturist, herbalist, and artist Jiling Lin, L.Ac. 林基玲 introduces the five flavors of Chinese medicine as a foundational underpinning of the framework of this healing system. We’ll learn how the Five Flavors in foods—sour, bitter, sweet, pungent, and salty—relate to their energetic effects in the body. And, we’ll explore the associations between flavors, energetics, and the Five Elements—Fire, Earth, Metal, Water, and Wood—which are archetypes of everything within our bodies and within our world, including the seasons.
Weaving these concepts together, Jiling will show us how we can apply them in our kitchens when cooking and choosing the foods we eat to align with the energetics of each season. Expand your Elemental understanding as you integrate herbs into your pantry, and cook in alignment with natural rhythms. Tasty recipes included!
